Founding Father of Mobilities Research has passed away.

Last modified: 22.03.2016

It is with great sadness that we have learned about Professor John Urry's passing on March 18. John Urry was not only an iminent academic scholar. He was also an extraordinary person with a strong and positive engagement in his fellow academics - junior as senior.

John forunded the Centre for Mobilities Research (CeMoRe) at Lancaster University in 2003 as well as he was co-founder and editor of the most important journal in the field "Mobilities" in 2006.

CeMoRe was our key source of inspiration for the creation of C-MUS. John has been a long standing friend of C-MUS and endorsed our center on many occations. Many scholars from C-MUS has over the years visited CeMoRe and always profited by John's universal hospitality.

We regret the loss of an academic gigant and a warm person whose support we will warmly remember.

R.I.P. John Urry.
