Brown Bag: Mobilising Place Management

This BB will present the key findings of the book Mobilising Place Management. The book focuses on a relational and mobility-orientated sense of place arguing that the management of places can be informed and enhanced by installing a greater awareness and understanding of mobility, hence an understanding of place as constantly being produced, consumed and connected through networks, relations and flows of human and non-human agents. As an emerging concept the book suggests the notion of place agency and at this BB we will seek to elaborate on this notion that places are not merely seen as a passive setting for social practices and actions but rather as an active and dynamic player. Thus, in relation to place agency, it is not just about who, but also what, plays an active role in the configuration of places and mobilities.
