Brown Bag: Material Manifestations of Contemporary Port-scapes in Denmark

This BB will report on initial findings from a research-based studio on material manifestations of four Danish port-scapes. Through mapping and analyzing externalities and site-specific interrelationships between harbours, towns, and landscapes, we examine the spatial-material composition of the harbours as cultural landscapes. In doing so, we seek to develop thematic deliberations on the material manifestations and -agency of these layouts, spaces and forms of contemporary port-scapes in two interlinked trajectories. First, in acknowledging and seeking to unfold the character of these harbours as industrial landscape-changing enterprises. Second, to deliberate on controversial conditions of ‘port-city relationships’, of connectivity and disconnectivity.
